What DevOps-Interview-Guide does

The DevOps-Interview-Guide is a meticulously curated, open-source repository designed to prepare engineers for rigorous technical interviews in the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps domains. It compiles hundreds of real-world interview questions, deep-dive architectural discussions, and hands-on scenarios collected directly from candidates who interviewed at major tech companies in 2025 and 2026. Unlike generic question banks, this guide avoids filler content, focusing entirely on exact, verified questions categorized strictly by the 85+ hiring companies. The material is organized into highly structured folders, allowing both junior applicants and seasoned architects to identify company-specific knowledge gaps efficiently. It serves as an essential, community-backed handbook for navigating modern infrastructure interviews.

This guide is intended for job seekers preparing for DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and Cloud Architecture roles. It is beneficial for both junior engineers and principal architects.

  • Company-Specific Question Banks: Organizes 151 detailed interview write-ups strictly by the 85 specific companies that asked them, ensuring highly targeted preparation.
  • Real-World Scenario Questions: Features complex, multi-part troubleshooting scenarios designed exactly as they were presented in actual technical screens.
  • Recent Interview Verification: Focuses exclusively on verified questions sourced from candidates who actively interviewed in the 2025 and 2026 hiring cycles.
  • Zero-Fluff Curation Standard: Completely avoids generic 'top 50' style filler questions, ensuring candidates only study material with a high probability of being asked.
  • Comprehensive Subject Coverage: Spans critical topics including Kubernetes architecture, Linux kernel tuning, Terraform state management, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Open-Source Community Contributions: Relies on an active network of working professionals to continuously update the repository with the latest industry hiring trends.

Where teams use it

Targeting Specific Company Interviews

Candidates can browse the specific folder for a company like Google or Amazon to understand their exact technical expectations before an onsite loop.

Preparing for SRE System Design

Engineers can review deep-dive architectural questions to confidently tackle open-ended infrastructure design screens at top-tier tech companies.

Identifying Knowledge Gaps

Mid-level developers can use the comprehensive question lists to systematically discover and study areas of infrastructure they lack practical experience in.

Standardizing Hiring Processes

Engineering managers can utilize the verified scenarios to construct fair, standardized technical interview loops for their own internal infrastructure teams.

Learning Advanced Troubleshooting

Junior sysadmins can study the real-world outage scenarios to understand the methodologies senior engineers are expected to use to diagnose complex system failures.

DevOps & SRE Interview Questions

Real interview questions collected from people who actually sat through DevOps, SRE, and Cloud engineering interviews in 2025 and 2026. No paraphrasing, no "top 50 questions" filler — these are the exact questions candidates were asked, organized so you can look up a specific company or just browse broadly to prep.

What's here

  • 151 interview write-ups
  • 85 companies, plus an Others/ folder for interviews where the company wasn't named
  • Topics span Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, AWS/Azure/GCP, CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), Ansible, Linux, scripting, and SRE fundamentals (SLI/SLO/SLA, observability, incident response)

Some companies show up more than once — different candidates, different rounds, sometimes years apart. Each of those is kept as a separate file rather than merged, since the questions and interviewer style often differ.

How it's organized

<Company Name>/
DevOps_Engineer.md (default when no specific role was mentioned)
DevOps_Engineer_2.md (second interview for the same company)
SRE_principal.md (used when a role was explicitly called out)
  ...

Each file is one interview experience. If a company was interviewed at more than once, you'll find multiple files in its folder instead of one giant merged list. Roles are reflected in the filename when the original submission mentioned one; otherwise it defaults to DevOps_Engineer.

Submissions that never named a company live under Others/.

Using this

Search the repo for a company name, or open its folder directly. If you're prepping broadly rather than for one company, skim a handful of folders across different company sizes (product companies, service companies like TCS/Infosys/Wipro, fintech, etc.) — the range of questions tells you more than any single list.

Contributing

Have an interview experience worth sharing? Add it as a new file under the matching company folder (create the folder if it doesn't exist yet). Keep the one-file-per-interview format, and include the role and years of experience at the top if you can — it helps other candidates gauge relevance. If the company can't be named, put it under Others/.

Support this

This is maintained on personal time, and it only stays useful because people keep contributing their interview experiences. If it helped your prep, starring the repo is the simplest way to say thanks — it also makes the repo easier for the next person to find.
