What arnis does

Arnis bridges the gap between real-world geography and voxel environments by automatically generating highly detailed Minecraft worlds. It solves the complex problem of translating massive geospatial datasets into block coordinates by parsing OpenStreetMap data and elevation models. Written in Rust for performance, the algorithm accurately maps terrain, topography, and architectural footprints into both Java and Bedrock editions. The system features a graphical interface built with Tauri, allowing users to simply select a bounding box on a map to initiate generation. By automating this geographic translation, it enables players to explore 1:1 scale replicas of actual cities and natural landscapes in-game.

Arnis creates complex and accurate Minecraft Java Edition (1.17+) and Bedrock Edition worlds that reflect real-world geography, topography, and architecture.

This free and open source project is designed to handle large-scale geographic data from the real world and generate detailed Minecraft worlds. The algorithm processes geospatial data from OpenStreetMap as well as elevation data to create an accurate Minecraft representation of terrain and architecture. Generate your hometown, big cities, and natural landscapes with ease!

⌨️ Usage


Download the latest release or compile the project on your own.

Choose your area on the map using the rectangle tool and select your Minecraft world - then simply click on Start Generation! Additionally, you can customize various generation settings, such as world scale, spawn point, or building interior generation.

--mode selects what gets generated, mirroring the GUI's generation mode dropdown:

Mode Result
geo-terrain (default) Buildings, roads and other OSM objects on real elevation terrain
geo-only OSM objects on flat ground
terrain-only Real elevation terrain, no objects at all (skips the OpenStreetMap query and the Overture fetch entirely, so --overture has no effect)

After your pull request is merged, I will take care of regularly creating update releases which will include your changes.
